I purchased a TRANE A/C unit in April 2005. In April 2009 the compressor went out, I think "things happen", replaced the compressor.

July 2009 condensation pump goes out "things happen", replaced. April 2012 compressor gone bad; for nothing stopping a TRANE I am thinking mine stops a lot; replaced again, along with all fluids, lines, etc. June 2014, YEP compressor died again. I have a maintenance agreement with the WONDERFUL A/C Solutions, unit is regularly checked and filter changed.

NO user neglect as this unit has been babied due to the issues. TRANE toots their horn that they are unstoppable; their customer service is the BEST; however, I am finding them saying "we will get back to you in 7-10 daysโ€? WHAT? Itโ€™s in the 90's here in GA I tell this to the CSR "well ma'am that is the best we can do right now".

"If you want to go ahead and get the unit fixed we may be able to reimburse you once our โ€œexpedited departmentโ€ reviews. I tell him that is not acceptable as I have a child in the house and it is the equivalent of leaving a child in a hot locked car. Well ma'am I just don't have anything else I can doโ€. I do have something I can do!

I am having A/C Solutions put in NEW Amana unit, they provide a 10 YEAR warranty on the entire unit. Considering my TRANE is not even 10 years and this is the 4th Compressor (cost over $1,600.00) not a good deal.

When you are in the market for A/C keep in mind a TRANE can be STOPPED and the Customer Service is LESS than HELPFUL. My advice is STAY away from TRANE unless you have disposable income for major repairs and are not subject to extreme temperatures if you chose to let TRANE โ€œreviewโ€.

Monetary Loss: $6000.

Location: Conyers, Georgia

I'm an experience technician with over 20 years experience and I can tell that if you've gone through that many compressors in that time line , 90% of the time that's due to improper install. It could be in proper size line sets , freon charge not correct , high static pressure issues in the duct system, improper size of equipment .

It could be many things . Compressors just don't fail, there's always a reason for it .

I am on my 2nd Trane. The first was 3 years old and after 3 compressor replacements and a fire, was replaced by the company.

Now my 1 year old Trane has a frozen valve which must be replaced. Granted, these parts are under warranty but the labor and peripheral costs are not!

The only thing that can stop a Trane is common sense. Don't buy one!

All you have to do buy a TRANE if you want it to stop. Faulty from the factory (faulty soldering and leaking freon)but I have to pick up the LABOR bill
