Verified ReviewerTerrible Warranty
I recently purchased a house, and my HVAC system broke down but I discovered that there was a warranty that I was not made aware of. When I contacted Trane to inquire about the warranty, they informed me that the warranty had not been transferred to my name, and I would not be covered for any repairs or replacements.
I unknowingly missed the 90-day transfer window as I did not work with a realtor and purchased the house through a leasing agency. Please be aware that the system is only 6 years old, and the warranty is for 10 years. According to Trane, the warranty reverted to a 5-year warranty because the transfer was not submitted in time.
I was shocked and frustrated by this news, as I had no knowledge of the warranty when I purchased the house. Trane has forced me into a very difficult situation where I will have to pay thousands of dollars to repair or replace the system because of this loophole.
Trane is taking advantage of me because at no point was, I made aware of the warranty although they knew my exact date of closing and that the home was under new ownership.
I know this because they were able to pull up all those details when I called the warranty department. I am now faced with the difficult decision of having my wife and 3 young children in a cold house (downstairs) or paying to replace a second HVAC system in less than a year.
Yes, I replaced my other system a few months ago but that system was 20 years old so had anticipated it going out of commission.
I am extremely disappointed in the lack of transparency and communication from Trane as well as their lack of empathy. I would caution anyone considering using this company to be aware of their policies and make sure that all warranties are transferred properly when purchasing a home.
- Warranty sucks
Preferred solution: Price reduction
User's recommendation: Proof read the warranty before purchase and clarify all details
I want to talk to the trane tech support I have...
Disappointed with customer service
The Appleton address is incorrect, this happened in Sheboygan but there was no address for Sheboygan and wouldn’t let me add one
- Good furnace
- Igniter switch
Preferred solution: If this happened once I wouldn’t be as angry but twice in a year.
Ac not working
User's recommendation: Do not recommend. it re-routed me to a scammer trying to get me to pay for a gift card.

Verified ReviewerCan't get part to repair Trane HVAC Unit
My heat on my Trane HVAC went out a 4 days before Christmas. They could not get the part shipped until after Christmas.
After the technician replaced the part, he found out that another part was bad. This new part would take an estimated 15 business days to get meaning my heat would not be out for over a month.
Called customer service to see if they could help expedite the shipping of the part but was told by customer service rep and her supervisor that there is nothing that they can do as they do not have access to the sales and parts computer system. They offered no help at all.
At one point the customer service rep said that I was one of the "lucky ones" as she has customer who had to wait 6 to 9 months to get the parts. Her excuse is because of "COVID", which is over three years ago.
This company does not care about their customers and it looks that their quality is no longer there as they are just trying to squeeze customers for more money and not try to help their customers.
Even if their equipment is reliable I would not recommend Trane as when it does break you are out of luck in getting it fixed anytime soon.
- Inadequate supply of repair parts
- Poor reliability of equipment
- Incompetence of parts management system
Preferred solution: Trane to expedite the shipping of the part and pay for the added cost of electricity that I had to use to heat the house with portable heaters.
User's recommendation: Do NOT buy a Trane.
I have equipment down
User's recommendation: Provide a $3 thumb drive with the board and written instructions.
Can get my unit fixed. I still have warranty and can’t get anything done .
Preferred solution: My unit fixed or a replacement!

Verified ReviewerDon’t Waste your money
Dont waste your money! This company use to be the best on the market and they decided to cut corners at the expense of the customers.
Heres what happen to us and thousands of other customers:
We own a new construction home that was finished in 2018. The coils died on us within the 1st year and it was, luckily, covered under warranty. Well, it *** out AGAIN. When I called and asked why my coil keeps dying they had no answers.
I asked what my options are and they told me to just replace the coil. They explain the the new coil only had another 1 year warranty. So if it craps out a 3rd time, its $2200 again.
We are looking to completely get rid of Trane altogether. We are not paying $2200 every couple years to replace a coil has been proven faulty.
- It works
- Coils are trash
- Good luck getting in contact with trane
Preferred solution: Price reduction

Verified ReviewerBad unit and service
By phoneThey said there was nothing they could help me withGuess it's time for a lawyer
It was hot and couldn't wait for another unit, so I went and bought one on 6-16-2023 and had it installed. Now trane does not want to help me with the cost to replace it because it's not their unit. That is a shame when I was still paying for the first one.
Buy a new unit so you don't have any problem, and that's all I had for three years. Maybe a lawyer can help me?
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified ReviewerUnhappy With Trane
I live in South Florida and it is very hot here in July. My Trane XL20i air conditioning/heat pump has stopped functioning/cooling.
Apparently the unit has a communication error and needs to have two circuit boards replaced in the outside unit. I am told that the unit is still under warranty, and that the circuit boards (not the labor) would be provided at no charge. Unfortunately the circuit boards are not available for three to five weeks.
My house only has this one air conditioning unit. Tranes warranty is useless as I cannot live three to five weeks without air conditioning in South Florida in the month of July.
Preferred solution: Unit repair under warranty in a timely manner.
User's recommendation: Do not buy Trane equipment

Trane Trash
I had a new trane system installed 1 year 2 months later . I come home from vacation to my house temp at 87.
Had a tech come out to determine the cause. Well just like the rest it was the coils had a leak. The disturbing thing is. The parts and labor was covered under warranty.
But it will still cost me $1200 to have it refilled with freon. They will not cover the cost of it. It was there junk that failed so the should be responsible to have the freon as well. The tech sent the video of the coil leaking.
But a lesson learnt is I will never buy another trane or recommend anybody to buy one.
They do not stand behind there products. Or the problem there products cause.
User's recommendation: Never buy Trane Trash

You should not be blaming Trane. Your home inspector should have listed install dates for water heater, HVAC and roof. He should have had advised to contact any manufacturer to verify any warranties.
